What is a Curling Wand?

This new styling tool is basically a curling iron without a clip or a clasp to hold your hair in place. You will need to manually wind your hair around the barrel and hold your hair in place until the curl has a chance to take. Learning to use them after spending years using a curling iron was a bit of a test for me at first, but after I mastered the process, it became far easier and much more time efficient for me. The best part about using a wand instead of an iron is the speed. It’s far quicker for styling my hair (and I have really thick hair) because of the fact that they usually heat up so quickly.

redhead beautyOne of the problems I had for years when using a curling iron was the fact that the curling iron used to clasp down hard on my hair and due to the thickness would cause tons of tangles. I had a lot of hair damage back then which has calmed down a lot now thanks to the Remington ceramic model that I use and happens to be my absolute favorite. Don’t limit yourself to the Remington though, as there are plenty of models to choose from. Using  one of these newer styling tools is definitely more of a manual process that takes time to master, but you will get smoother results and smoother looking hair.

How to Find the Right Wand For Your Look:

There are a ton of options and specifications out there when it comes to checking out all the models out there so it can be really daunting to figure out exactly which one is perfect for you. By using our interactive comparison chart above, you should be able to pick one or two that are your favorites depending on which features are a priority for you.

Make sure you analyze not only the cost but all the other features available that you need to help you make an educated decision. Some of my friends prefer to stick with a ceramic model, while others really don’t mind what theirs is made from. In my opinion, one of the biggest things that carries an impact any of my purchasing decisions is what other ladies have to say in their reviews on

Curling Wand Comparisons:

There are plenty of great models out there that will help you get amazing looking curls. There are probably more than a few brands out there that if purchased would bring you great looks for years to come. With that being said, there are a few that really seem to stand out as being a little more special than the rest. This doesn’t mean that they will be perfect, but they’ve not only impressed us, but a lot of other ladies judging by the reviews on as well.

Remington CI95AC/2 Tstudio Salon Collection Digital Ceramic Model:

RemingtonThe Remington Tstudio Ceramic Salon Digital Ceramic model is one of the most highly touted products out there on the market today. I’ve used it and had absolutely awesome results with it. While there is a learning curve on using it, it’s nothing that should intimidate anyone when using it.

A quick search on youtube will help walk you through the most effective way to use it (click here to view the video).

The Remington Tstudio comes with a heat protectant glove which is a huge plus. Many of these models can get very hot and if you are a klutz like me, having a glove on really protects my hands. A lot of people may not need to use the glove, but I prefer not to go about my day with burns on my hands so having the glove included is a big plus.

This brand in particular happens to be one of the most highly purchased and rated on Amazon and with good reason. It’s a great pickup for the price and will give you great looking curls if you follow the instructions on how to use it.

Bed Head BH313 Orange Crush 1 Inch Styler:

Bed Head StylerThe Bed Head Orange Crush is a great little product that packs a lot of heating power. It heats up really fast and like the Remington Tstudio comes with a heat protective glove.

The glove isn’t intended to press your hair against the barrel, just protect it in case of the accidental brush up, so make sure you are using the glove like its intended. The 1 inch barrel of the Orange Crush BH313 is great for looser curls and waves.

The biggest advantage of the Orange Crush is the price point. At under 30.00 it’s a great value for people on a budget that don’t feel like spending a little more on the Remington. If you have the budget to spend a little more, the Remington is our personal recommendation, but the Bed Head Orange Crush is a close 2nd.

Cortex 4 in One Set:

4 in 1Like the Bed Head and Remington, the Cortex 4 in One comes with a heat resistant glove. But the defining characteristic that sets this model apart is the fact that it comes with 4 ceramic interchangeable heads.

The heads come in the following sizes: .5 inches, .75 inches, 1.25 inches and 1.5 inches. This makes it a fantastic value buy as it turns out to be basically 4 wands in one.

This particular brand is the second highest and second most rated model out of our Top 5. The interchangeable heads really diversify it which makes it an excellent choice for anyone that wants to try out different size curls with their look. It is priced slightly higher, but for the package you get, it’s well worth the extra money. There are a lot of choices out there that you can make, but the 4 in 1 gives you a ton of versatility for the price which is extremely hard to beat.

Conair Infiniti YOU CURL:

You CurlThe infinity YOU CURL is probably one of our favorite budget models. It’s under $30.00 and it heats up extremely quickly. It comes with a 3 finger heating glove, and although we prefer a full glove (I’m a klutz, remember), the 3 finger glove is better than nothing at all.

This model maxes out at 400 degrees which is lightly less than some of the others we’ve reviewed, but it does heat up quickly minimizing your downtime.

It comes with 4 heat settings that you can easily change depending on the look and/or texture of your hair so you get the types of curls you are looking for.

The lower heat settings are a nice touch for those of you with fine delicate hair. This product is really easy to use and it’s also really good for waves as well as curls.

HSI Professional Set:

HSIThe HSI product is a slightly lesser known brand that typically professionals use. Like the Cortex, the HIS Professional comes with 4 adjustable heads that you can swap out with ease. The HSI is very reasonably priced and is preferred by a lot of salon professionals.

The HSI Professional is made of ceramic and comes with the following barrel sizes: .75 Inches, 1 inch, 1.5 inches and .75-1 inch.

One of the great features is the built-in adjustable digital temperature control that allows you to adjust the heat based upon your hair type and the style you are trying to get.

Great Wands For Long Hair:

Despite being frequent targets of lust and jealousy, ladies born with beautiful locks of long hair that hangs just right from follicle to waist are quite fortunate. Nonetheless, maintaining such manes can prove a lifelong curse that consumes lots of precious energy and tons of time and money. With helping hands of high technology, modern women with hectic lives and long hair get the look they desire that does not require equally extended energy and monetary expenditures. Let’s break down the Top Products.

• Enzo Milano Conico 25/18mm

A cone shaped and tapered barrel without a clamp equates to Enzo Milano’s envisioned reinvention of conventional ¾-inch wand that won the Parisian Grand Prix Award as Most Innovative Iron. Those whose hair is longer and wallets a little deep will not mind paying the somewhat steep cost to own this boss of specially designed long hair curlers. A high-tech entourage encompassing heat setting of up to 320 degrees Fahrenheit for a Teflon barrel with aluminum coating quickly delivers upward spirals, dazzling perm effects or simple touch ups. A heat-resistant glove is the safety feature and finishing touch that gets you to the finish line with a great hair style in record time.
